How I narrowed it down

Kids start a fall hike cold and warm up quickly, so the layer has to feel good at the car and come off easily on the trail. The three picks split along clear lines. Steens Mountain II is the midweight fleece, Benton Springs comes in baby and toddler sizes, and only the Glacier has a hood. Pockets, zips and care labels on each listing settled the rest.
